Discover What Makeup Flatters Your Coloring

Your makeup has the ability to enhance or detract from your natural coloring. It is important to understand what makeup shades look best on you in order to make your face look fresher and more vibrant. Follow these steps to find out what colors are most flattering on you.

Step 1: Find out if your skin has a warm or cool undertone. If you fall under the left side of the chart, you are a warm. If y
ou fall under the right side, you are a cool.

Examples: Vanessa Hudgens (top) has a warm undertone. Taylor Swift (bottom) has a cool undertone.

Step 2:
Consider your hair undertone. If your hair has a gold, amber, or red undertone, your hair has warm undertones. If it has ashy or ebony undertones, your hair has cool undertones.

Example: Scarlett Johansson (top) has warm toned hair, Taylor Momsen (bottom) has cool toned hair.

Step 3: Compare the undertones of your hair and skin. Do they match up? If they do, you are in luck and can determine whether your coloring is warm or cool toned. If they don't (mine don't), continue to step 3b.

3b. Below is a chart of colors that look best on each type of coloring. If you look best in colors on the left column, you are warm toned. If you look best in colors on the right column, you are cool toned.

Step 4: Now that you know your skin tone, you can discover what color blushes and lip colors look best on you. Simply follow the chart below. All of the examples listed are
MAC. I will post product photos and swatches ASAP.

Step 5: Match up your eye color to your skin tone to discover what color eye shadows will look best on you. If you cannot figure out your skin tone, follow the N/A section on the chart below.
*** Note: Although many people think that wearing the same color shadow will bring out their eye color, it will actually make their eyes look dull and flat. Wearing contrasting eyeshadows with their eye colors will allow their eyes to pop.
